Over the past few months, my style has naturally transitioned into a much more fully laid back version of myself. I have found that there has been a number of pieces in my wardrobe that I have rediscovered and worn constantly.
For someone who doesn’t buy things on impulse, I usually count the cost per wear on any piece of clothing I own. Quality over quantity is my motto. This allows me to invest in pieces that are Versatile, Simple, Comfortable and definitely stylish.
I have 5 of the most versatile clothing pieces you can invest in or may be you have similar ones in your closet you can easily transition into your current style
THE WHITE SHIRT
At this point, you should definitely know this comes first, it’s the perfect capsule wardrobe / closet purchase most especially if you are living a more minimal lifestyle. This is a must have, whether it’s oversized, silk, buttoned down, wrap or with statement sleeves or lace detailing. For the non minimalist, you can mix and match this piece for so many occasions and truly get your money’s worth.
THE BLACK SKIRT
This has been a major go-to for me; be it knee length or midi. Pair it with a simple tee, blouse or a corporate shirt – coupled with killer heels, flat shoes, sandals or sporty trainers.
THE LIGHTWEIGHT DRESS.
Lately I have been drawn towards dresses and they are definitely a must have for those of us living in a warmer climate. A cotton style dress is a versatile spring/summer piece – for those of us currently thinking of fall & winter. You can opt for knee or midi length, spaghetti or baby sleeves for a classic look. Throw on a sweater, jacket or coat for when things get chilly. Invest in monochrome colors or patterns for endless styling options.
THE BASIC BODYSUIT
I love a simple, supportive and basic bodysuit – Choosing sleek staples that can be worn in multiple seasons and are equally comfortable. This piece that every lady needs in her closet can act as a layer in both casual and dressy situations. The simpler the better for easy styling but an edgy cut out or one with extra detailing would definitely work for switching up your look or style.
When it comes to versatility, if I don’t mention a blazer then the list is incomplete. It can be worn for work events, teamed with dresses or simply smarten your denim look – so many options. This piece is a true team player!
