Where to Find Inspiration if You’re a Creative

For a long time it felt like I was just writing captions and developing graphics & images for my clients but my level of being creative was on a low

Being a digital marketer and creative person with several outlets to share content, it can sometimes become tiresome. You have to constantly keep up with what is happening in the Industry, what others are doing and writing while being mindful of what your target audience wants to see and read.

People are getting more and more interested in finding out what happens before you snap that gorgeous picture you just posted. Or what your process is like for creating flatlays. Or even what you do on a Sunday morning. It’s about engaging with them in an intimate but real-time way, and showing them what’s happening in between the time you conceive something to the time you finish it.

Before I start posting content, there’s this massive process in between called research! And I do love doing my researches, so if you haven’t nailed down your resources, here’s a start – where i personally like to find inspiration!

BLOGS

My main source of research are the blogs  I have come to love and fashion publications everyone loves. Depending on what your focus or preference is, you can follow fashion, lifestyle, beauty, travel, food blogs. However, don’t flat out copy any of them – use them as a starting point and sprinkle your own personal touch on it. A few blogs to check out: Who What Wear, Elle.com, Zoe Report

PINTEREST

I adore PINTEREST! It’s one of my greatest sources of inspiration where you can practically find almost everything there from interesting articles to visual inspiration or DIY projects. Venture out and explore. I guarantee you will not regret it.

PRINT MEDIA

This is in form of books, magazines, or catalogs. They can be very refreshing to go through and can transport you to different places, which can birth your best ideas! Just be sure to keep a pen handy so you can write them down.

MEDITATION AND REFLECTION.

It’s definitely okay to take out time to just recharge and relax! You can go out into the world and reflect. Look at your own experience. You are a wealth of your own possibilities. The best story you can tell is always your own, so go for a walk, start a journal, take some pictures for no special reason, have a drink with a friend(s), pick up a new book to read and then reflect & write.

Don’t worry about getting stuck. Honestly i have come to realize the key to getting unstuck is creating nonstop. We all go have ups and downs when it comes to the creative process so take advantage of the times you’re super inspired and let it all out. We all know as creative people that not everyday is content creation day and that’s why it’s important to make the most out of the ones that are.

Where do you find inspiration? I am always up for new ideas!

See you tomorrow

XOXO
