I am all about self care especially now that spending time at home has become the norm compared to the past two years when my idea of self caring sadly was sleeping in or taking a nap. When it comes to self care, it defers from person to person. To someone, it could be having a warm bath while to another it’s laying in bed watching Netflix or reruns of their favorite series.
To me self care is doing whatever makes you feel at your best positively.
Self-care is whatever the you want it to be. (Yeah, say it again for the people in the back. 🙌🏼). There is this misconception that self-care has to be meditating or reciting positive affirmations or taking a bath. While self-care can surely be those things, there are so many ways to nurture your mind, body, and soul that many of us forget about.
Here are the 3 ways I would be self caring the remaining days of this year;
1. Prayer, meditation & praise
Spending time in the presence of God, praising Him, bringing my intercessions & supplication to Him and even meditating on His Word completely refreshes, nourishes & strengthens me.
You know when the Bible says
“But let the godly rejoice. Let them be glad in God’s presence. Let them be filled with joy.” – Psalms 68:3 NLT
“In his presence the mountains quake, and the hills melt away; the earth trembles, and its people are destroyed.” – Nahum 1:5 NLT
From the two verses above; you can see here that an atmosphere filled with the presence of God breaks barriers, melts hills and fills you with Joy. I won’t even trade that for anything.
2. Pamper myself
I may not have the time or luxury to go to a spa but I love a good old DIY face mask and home pedicure! I do this listening to my favorite playlist and light a scented candle
My go-to face mask mix
- 1tbsp of tumeric powder
- 1tbsp of honey
- 1tbdp of coconut oil
This mixture helps to remove dark spots, brightens my face and add some moisture to it too.
Since I started working out consistently, I have loved my body more! It’s not like I was overweight but before I started working out I believe my muscles were not strong. It’s always a good idea to stay fit and I would be doing that consistently from now on
There you have the three ways i would be self caring the remaining days of this year.
