Whenever you read a good book, somewhere in the world a door opens to allow in more light.
– Vera Nazarian
I am the type of person whose idea of a great time is lying in bed, being a couch potato or sitting outside reading a book and munching on a snack or two. Spending time outside the confines of my inner space can be a little daunting or should I say a bit of a chore.
I remember as a little girl (i believe I was around 8 or 9 years) while my mates where outside playing i was busy going through my parents library of books scouring for my next read; be it fictional or educational. I believe my parents imbibed the reading culture into I and my siblings life at an early age by getting us different kinds of children books where we could read them after our home works, after dinner or lunch, during the weekends or holidays.
Whenever I pick up a book, it’s like I am actually in the mind of the writer (No I am not weird) and i easily follow the characters in it. I read my first romance novel in my first year in secondary school and I thought the likes of Sheikh Kardahl Hourani and Gavin Renard who were always devastatingly handsome, rich with a dash of arrogance always winning the heart of the female characters where simply the best books out there (well except my school books of course, gotta to get those A’s).
As life would have it, I broaden my horizons and books on mysterious deaths, solving crimes, thrillers, law and order etc began to interest me. This has continued over the years where i have read books on purpose, finance, faith, confidence as a woman, entrepreneurial spirit and the likes.
I would like to share with you some of the books I read last year that has impacted on me positively and hopefully would do the same to you.
